One of the well-known pharmaceutical company approached Aura Environmental Services Pvt. Ltd. after experiencing a sudden and unexplained die-off of fish in their on-site pond. Concerned about potential environmental and operational impacts, they sought our expertise to investigate the cause and provide a sustainable solution.
Challenge
The immediate challenge was to identify the cause of the fish deaths, which required a thorough investigation of the company’s water management processes and pond
water quality. A potential ecological imbalance or contamination was suspected, but the exact cause was unclear.
Our Approach
Our experienced team conducted a detailed on-site study, which included:
- Inspecting Industry’s processes and water management systems.
- Identifying and analyzing the sources of water feeding into the pond.
- Collecting water samples from the pond for detailed analysis in our NABL accredited laboratory.
Solutions
In the laboratory, our team performed a comprehensive analysis, including a Bio-Assay test to evaluate the biological impact on aquatic life. Our findings revealed that the BOD levels in the pond were critically low, means there was insufficient dissolved oxygen in the water to support the fish population.
Outcome
With the cause identified, we provided industry with a customized solution to improve the water quality. This included recommendations for maintaining oxygen levels in the water and regularly monitoring BOD levels to prevent future occurrences. The company successfully implemented our recommendations, ensuring a healthier aquatic environment in their pond.
